What should be paid attention to when using an axial fan?
Nov 10, 2024
The following are the aspects that need to be paid attention to when using an axial fan:
Installation
Location selection
Avoid installing in an environment that is prone to corrosive gases, flammable and explosive, unless the fan is specially designed for such an environment. If used outdoors, be careful to avoid rain directly falling on the motor, and consider installing a protective cover.
When used in a ventilation system, ensure that the connection between the fan and the air duct is tight and smooth to reduce airflow loss.
Fixed installation
Ensure that the installation is firm, and the screws, nuts, and other connectors must be tightened. For large axial fans, check the strength of the mounting bracket to prevent loosening or even falling due to vibration during fan operation.
Operation
Power supply requirements
Use a power supply that meets the rated voltage and frequency of the fan. If the power supply fluctuates greatly, consider using a voltage stabilizer to ensure the normal operation of the fan and avoid damage to the motor due to unstable voltage.
Start and stop
Avoid starting and stopping the fan frequently, which may cause an impact on the motor and reduce the service life of the motor. If you need to temporarily stop and then restart, you can leave a proper interval of a few minutes.
Pay attention to the starting current of the fan when starting. If the starting current is too large (several times the rated current), check whether there are problems with the motor and power supply.
Maintenance
Cleaning work
Regularly clean the dust, oil, and other impurities on the blades and the outer shell. Cut off the power supply first when cleaning. For stubborn stains on the blades, you can use a mild detergent and a soft cloth to wipe.
Pay attention to cleaning the air inlet and outlet to prevent blockage from affecting the ventilation effect.
Check the parts
Regularly check whether the blades are deformed, loose, or damaged. If there are any problems, replace or repair them in time.
Check the running sound and temperature of the motor. If there is abnormal noise (such as buzzing, clicking, etc.) or the motor temperature is too high (exceeding the normal operating temperature range), it may be that the motor bearing is damaged or the winding is faulty, and the motor needs to be repaired or replaced.
Other aspects
Overload protection
If the system where the axial fan is located may be overloaded (such as blockage of the air duct causing increased fan resistance), consider installing an overload protection device, such as a thermal relay, which automatically cuts off the power supply when the current exceeds the set value to protect the fan.
Ambient temperature of use
Pay attention to the temperature range of the use environment and do not exceed the allowable temperature range of the fan design, otherwise, it may affect the performance and life of the fan.
