How to Deal with the Problem of Low Pressure Output in Industrial Pressure Blowers
May 30, 2025
1. Check for Obstructions
First, examine the inlet and outlet ducts of the blower. Blockages such as debris, dust, or foreign objects can restrict the airflow and lead to low-pressure output. Inspect and clean the filters as well, because a clogged filter significantly reduces the amount of air that can enter the blower. For example, in a manufacturing plant, lint or small pieces of material may accumulate in the ducts over time.
2. Inspect the Blower Components
Look at the impeller. A damaged or dirty impeller can affect performance. If the impeller blades are bent, chipped, or covered in a thick layer of dirt, they won't be able to impart the proper kinetic energy to the air. Clean or repair the impeller as needed. Also, check the condition of the blower housing. Any cracks or leaks in the housing can cause air to escape, resulting in lower pressure output.
3. Verify the Motor and Drive System
Ensure that the motor is operating at the correct speed. A malfunctioning motor or a problem with the drive system, such as a slipping belt (if applicable), can lead to reduced impeller speed and thus lower pressure. Check the electrical connections and motor controls. If the blower is equipped with a variable-speed drive, make sure it's set correctly to provide the necessary speed for the desired pressure output.
4. Consider System Design and Load
Evaluate the overall system design. The ductwork may be too large or too complex, causing excessive air-flow resistance. In some cases, it might be necessary to adjust or redesign the duct system. Also, check if the blower is properly sized for the load. An undersized blower will struggle to generate the required pressure for a given application.
