Differences between centrifugal fans and cross-flow fans

Different performance characteristics
Centrifugal fan: The centrifugal fan is essentially a variable flow and constant pressure device. When the rotational speed is constant, the pressure-flow theoretical curve of the centrifugal fan should be a straight line. The actual characteristic curve is curved due to internal losses. The pressure developed in a centrifugal fan is greatly affected by changes in inlet air temperature or density. For a given intake air volume, the highest intake air temperature (lowest air density) produces the lowest pressure. For a given pressure versus flow characteristic curve, there is a power versus flow characteristic curve. When the blower is running at a constant speed, for a given flow, the required power increases as the intake air temperature decreases.
Cross-flow fan: The cross-flow fan is mainly composed of impeller, air duct and motor. The impeller material is generally aluminum alloy or engineering plastic. The aluminum alloy impeller has high strength, light weight and high temperature resistance, and can maintain long-term stable operation without deformation; the plastic impeller is injection molded by a mold and then welded by ultrasonic waves. The air duct is generally stamped and formed by metal sheet, and it can also be cast in plastic or aluminum alloy. The casing adopts a streamlined design, which can effectively reduce the loss of airflow and greatly improve the working efficiency of the fan. The motor is the power part of the cross-flow fan, which can be powered by AC or DC. The AC power supply mainly includes the shaded pole motor and the capacitor starter motor, and the DC power supply is the DC brushless motor. The drive motor is generally installed flexibly with the impeller and fixed on the air duct. ①The axial length is not limited, and the length of the impeller can be arbitrarily selected according to different use requirements; ②The airflow flows through the impeller and is affected by the two forces of the blades, so the airflow can reach a long distance; ③No turbulence, the air outlet ④Because the airflow is forced to turn in the impeller, the head loss is large and the efficiency is low.
