Consider ventilation requirements
Space size
Determine the size and ventilation volume of the fan according to the area and height of the space under the roof. Generally speaking, a fan with a ventilation volume of 1000-1500 cubic meters per hour is required for every 100-150 cubic meters of space. For example, for a space of 20 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 5 meters high, with a volume of 1000 cubic meters, a roof fan with a ventilation volume of about 1000-1500 cubic meters per hour can be selected.
Purpose
If it is used for heat dissipation in industrial plants, it is necessary to select a fan with a large ventilation volume and the ability to quickly discharge heat; if it is used for ventilation and ventilation of warehouses to keep the air dry and fresh, the ventilation volume requirement may be lower than that of industrial plants, but the continuous operation capacity of the fan needs to be considered; if it is used in commercial places such as supermarkets, gymnasiums, etc., in addition to the ventilation volume, it is also necessary to consider that the noise of the fan operation should not be too loud.
Consider environmental factors
Temperature and humidity
In high-temperature environments, such as metallurgical industrial plants, high-temperature resistant fans should be selected, and their motors and fan blades and other components should be able to operate stably for a long time in high-temperature environments (for example, over 40°C). In high-humidity environments, such as some food processing workshops, fans with good moisture-proof performance should be selected to prevent motors and other components from being damaged by moisture.
Dust and corrosive gases
For dusty environments, such as woodworking workshops, fans with high-efficiency protective nets and easy-to-clean designs should be selected. The mesh size of the protective net should be able to effectively prevent dust from entering the fan. In environments with corrosive gases, such as chemical workshops, fans made of corrosion-resistant materials (such as stainless steel) should be selected.
Consider fan performance parameters
Air volume and air pressure
The air volume determines the amount of air that the fan can deliver per unit time, and the air pressure reflects the fan's ability to overcome the resistance of the ventilation system. If the ventilation duct is long, has many elbows, or has components that increase resistance, such as filters, then a fan with a larger air pressure needs to be selected. Normally, the air pressure of a roof fan is between tens of Pa and hundreds of Pa, and can be selected according to the actual resistance of the ventilation system.
Noise level
Choose a fan based on the noise requirements of the place of use. For example, in places with strict noise requirements such as offices and conference rooms, low-noise roof fans with noise levels below 40-50 decibels should be selected; while in places with relatively low noise requirements such as industrial plants, fans with noise levels around 60-70 decibels can be selected.
Consider installation and maintenance convenience
Installation method
There are many ways to install roof fans, such as directly installing them on the roof steel beams, installing them through brackets, etc. Choose a suitable installation method based on the structure and load-bearing capacity of the roof to ensure that the installation is firm and stable.
Ease of maintenance
Choose fans that are easy to clean, maintain and repair. For example, the fan blades can be easily disassembled for cleaning, and the motor is easy to inspect and maintain, which can reduce the subsequent maintenance costs and workload.
