Development history of centrifuge

Feb 08, 2023

In 1862, Guibel of England invented the centrifugal fan, whose impeller and casing were concentric circles, the casing was made of bricks, and the wooden impeller used backward straight blades, with an efficiency of only about 40%, mainly used for mine ventilation. In 1880, people designed a volute casing for mine exhaust and supply, and a centrifugal fan with backward curved blades, and the structure was relatively complete. In 1892, France developed a cross-flow fan; in 1898, the Irish designed a forward-bladed Sirocco centrifugal fan, which was widely used in various countries; in the 19th century, axial flow fans were used for mine ventilation and metallurgical industry blasting, but their pressure was only 100 to 300 Pa, and their efficiency was only 15 to 25%. It was not until the 1940s that they developed rapidly. In 1935, Germany first used axial flow isobaric fans for boiler ventilation and air induction; in 1948, Denmark manufactured axial flow fans with adjustable moving blades during operation; rotary axial flow fans, meridian acceleration axial flow fans, diagonal flow fans and cross flow fans; in 2002, China's explosion-proof centrifugal fans were widely used in chemical, petroleum, machinery and other fields, and Changlindong explosion-proof centrifugal fans were also developed.
